Fitness programme

The foundation for fitness training follows the A.RC. system very strictly– we are “training to train” therefore good attitude and respect is a must at all times. It is during the fitness part of the session when kids will be challenged how well they can work in a group environment the most. This skill will determine their success in later life as a student in university, worker in a company, and parent in a family.

The main goal of the fitness training is to prepare kids for the next big step: “training to compete” without forgetting that training should be fun. In Inv. B group mobility, agility and speed will be developed through different games. Inv. A group will follow more performance orientated strength and conditioning plan so they will be ready to train intensively once they reach the age of 15.

Body weight exercises will be used so the kids won’t be lifting heavy weights.

KIDS WILL:

  • Learn how to perform athletic warm up and cool down routines (B, B+, A group).
  • Perform fitness tests after every 8 weeks to monitor their physical and mental development (B, B+, A group).
  • Learn how to measure their heart rates and to use this skill in training (A group). Each player must display our 5 key character strengths both on and off the court.
  • Improve their cardiovascular system through running and Hit & Turn (A, A+ group).
  • Increase overall strength, flexibility, and mobility through special 8 week fitness blocks (A group).
Increase overall strength, flexibility, and mobility through games (B, B+, A group).
Learn how to move faster, more efficiently and become more agile (B, B+, A group).
Kids will be split into 2 small groups each session and each group will spend 50 minutes with Taivo. This will also reduce the ratio of players to coaches for on-court tennis work. Kids do not have to do fitness every session except if they come only once a week.
